Literature Text

Say hello to the empty places
While I am gone away
Hold fast to my memory
As it whispers through your head
Echoes in your coffee cup
Pictures in the stream

Where have your lovelies gone?
The luster slips from your voice
When you sing your many songs
Angels used to fan the air
Behind your bolted door
Sing softly my love
Until your lovelies come back

Yesterday they sky was grey
The sun behind the clouds
The air was stale
My heart was slow
But happy—all the same

I wish you were here
So I could call your name
And see your face reply
Smile away the cloudy grey
And fill the empty places
With your returned lovelies
A poetry written about a certain young woman
